CEBU, Philippines - Work on the Mayor Maximo V. Patalinghug Avenue in Lapu-Lapu City will temporarily stop next week to give way to the annual fiesta celebration in honor of the city's patron, Virgen dela Regla on November 20-21.
Mayor Paz Radaza said the contractor of the project of Mayor Maximo V. Patalinghug Avenue has agreed to suspend the project.
Radaza said CTMS officials will announce the exact date when work will be suspended.
The CTMS will introduce minor rerouting of traffic during the fiesta celebration.
The delay of the transfer of the vendors to the newly renovated Lapu-Lapu City public market may force city officials to introduce measures to control the flow of vehicular traffic in view of the fiesta celebration.
Radaza said the transfer which was supposed to be done last October 31 did not materialize because of some concerns that needed to be addressed first.
"Wala man gyud ta'y laing mahimo kon dili pag patuman lang gayud sa pag-regulate sa mga sakyanan," Mayor Radaza said.
The vendors now occupy streets near the city public market to give way to the market's renovation. (FREEMAN)
