Lapu-Lapu bent on solving squatting woes

CEBU, Philippines -  The realization of the medium-rise socialized housing project in barangay Canjulao, Lapu-Lapu City is seen to solve squatting on government-owned lots in coastal barangays.

City Mayor Paz Radaza wishes to hasten the implementation of the Canjulao Housing Project in the 25-hectare area in barangay Canjulao, where around 4,000 houses will be constructed for a start.

The proposed socialized housing started during the previous administration of former mayor and now Congressman Arturo Radaza.

The city government identified an initial 3,651 urban poor households from 62 accredited urban poor associations in 14 barangays of the city as beneficiaries of the project.

Mayor Radaza said the City Urban Poor's Office has been tasked to continue providing housing to informal settlers in the city. – (FREEMAN)
