Suspect's gun negative in ballistic examination

CEBU, Philippines - The firearm seized from a robber who police suspect to be a gun-for-hire yielded negative results during a ballistic examination.

Suspect Michael Ansero is the younger brother of notorious robber Dindo Ansero who was one of the suspects in the Landbank robbery in Bogo town four years ago was arrested two weeks ago after he was involved in another robbery in Hernan Cortes Street in barangay Banilad, Mandaue City.

Ansero, upon his arrest two weeks ago, was identified by the police to be a member of a gun-for-hire group the reason why his .45 caliber pistol which was seized from him was subjected to a cross matching examination with the empty shells recovered from the crime scene where businessman Antonio "Tony" Ouano was killed last month.

Cross-matching examination of firearms recovered from alleged guns-for-hire which was cross-matched with the empty shells recovered in the crime scene where Antonio 'Tony' Ouano was killed yielded negative results.

Michael was arrested in Mandaue following a robbery incident in Hernan Cortes Street.

Michael, 29, married, was positively identified by victim, Cheryl Saberon, 22, single, around 12:00 midnight of August 4, who was fetch by her hired motorcycle driver, Ramonito Bansalan, 31, married, whom they robbed prior to the suspect's arrest.

Charges of illegal possession of firearm, illegal possession of dangerous drugs, and robbery were filed against him. (FREEMAN)
