Driver who took woman's bag arrested in Lapu-Lapu

CEBU, Philippines - The Investigative and Detective Management Bureau (IDMB) of the Mandaue City Police Office has arrested the habal-habal driver who took the bag of a woman who was killed in a vehicular accident last Sunday in Jayme Street in barangay Paknaan.

Renato Llenes who was arrested in barangay Bangkal, Lapu-Lapu City yesterday morning denied he took P50,000 from the bag of Victoria Canoy but only P700.

It was also learned that the Canoy's cellular phone was taken by a certain Reynaldo Palma.

When contacted, Palma said he would return the phone.

SPO1 Arnulfo Quiachon, who is investigating the case, said that although a theft case will be filed against the two suspects, the gravity of the offense is yet to be determined, or until the amount of money declared missing can be established.

The Canoy family was traveling in a van Sunday when it collided with the BMW car driven by Jessie Joel De Manuel of Consolacion town.

Victoria died on the spot while her husband and daughter and the driver of the BMW were injured. (FREEMAN)
