CEBU, Philippines - Department of Trade and Industry Secretary Gregory Domingo yesterday turned over personal computers to Mandaue and Lapu-Lapu cities and Consolacion town to be distributed to public schools.
Each local government unit received 11 computer sets.
At the turnover ceremony at the Mandaue City Science High School in barangay Ibabao, Mandaue City were sixth district Rep. Luis Gabriel Quisumbing, Mandaue City Mayor Jonas Cortes, Consolacion town Mayor Teresa Alegado, and Lapu-Lapu City administrator Teodulo Ybañez.
Domingo said the program to distribute computers to the LGUs started ten years ago, with the computers coming from Japan.
"This is a significant step in order to be equipped in global technology," Domingo said yesterday morning.
Quisumbing thanked Sec. Domingo for making the sixth district a recipient.
Quisumbing said it has been DTI's dream to bring the computerization program in public schools to "zero backlog."
The Mandaue City Science High School will get all 11 computers while the 11 computers for Lapu-Lapuy City will be sent to the Bankal National High School according to Ybañez. - THE FREEMAN
