Servant flees with master's gadgets

CEBU, Philippines - The executive director of the Mandaue City Sports Commission lost gadgets worth more than P100,000 to his servant who fled with his belongings while he and his family were out Monday evening.

Lawyer Hidelito Pascual, 63, married, and a resident of sitio Abuno in barangay Pajac, Lapu-Lapu City told the Theft and Robbery Section Office of the Lapu-Lapu City Police Office that his helper who he identified as a certain “Maritess” was hired three days earlier.

Pascual said he and his family members went out at 7 p.m. to attend to some important matters, leaving the newly hired house help and her child at home.

When they came back, they found the servant gone and the master’s bedroom door forcibly opened.

Meanwhile, earlier that day in Mandaue City, Mayet Echavez, 35, married, of Consuelo Village, barangay Basak, Mandaue City told the police in barangay Basak that her house was burgled.

Police said missing from the house were a laptop worth P25,000; a digital camera worth P12,000; PSP worth P7,000; cellular phone worth P2,500, and a BMX bike valued at P1,500. – THE FREEMAN
