CEBU, Philippines - Six of the 14 barangays in Liloan town that participated the 4th Rosquillos Festival will be given P100,000 in financial assistance by the provincial government. The festival was held in honor of the town's patron saint, San Fernando Rey.
Governor Gwen Garcia was so impressed by the performance of the barangay contingents that she offered to reward them.
"Nalipay kaayo ko sa gipakita nga maayong performance sa mga contingent gikan sa unom ka barangay, mao nga hatagan nako sila og ganti nga tag P100,000 worth of projects," said Garcia.
Garcia directed all barangay captains to submit a resolution to identify their respective priority projects for funding.
Liloan Mayor Vincent Franco "Duke" Frasco expressed his gratitude for the governor's support.
Barangay Yati was adjudged as champion in the ritual and showdown competition. Second place honors went to barangay Jubay, and Cotcot, third.
The Best in Costume award went to barangay Yati. Cotcot snatched the Best in Musicality award and Poblacion was declared Best in Product Presentation.
Miss Liela Vianca Tagalog was adjudged as Rosquillos Festival Queen this year.
Barangay Poblacion was Best in Andas, Cotcot came in second, and Jubay, third. (FREEMAN)
