Mandaue and Consolacion ask for more police patrols

CEBU, Philippines - Officials of Mandaue City and Consolacion town have asked the police to conduct patrols at the vicinity of the Cebu North Coastal road bridge to prevent vandalism and the theft of electrical wires.

The request came after it was learned that the theft of electrical wires was the reasons for the lack of lights at the bridge which links Mandaue City and Consolacion town.

Consolacion Municipal Councilor Iluminado Alin said police visibility would prevent the commission of crimes in the area.

He said some residents are the ones stealing the wires.

However, suspects have been arrested and charged.

In Mandaue City, Mayor Jonas Cortes said the police should continue their visibility.

Cortes said the residents should help the police in protecting government property especially the bridge at Cansaga.
