CEBU, Philippines - An intoxicated Korean national sustained bruises and contusions as he stumbled on the ground many times in his attempt to escape arrest Thursday evening.
Kim Joo, a Hotel and Restaurant Management graduate, allegedly grappled with police who came to arrest him for lying in the middle of the road and slowing down traffic in barangay Alang-alang in Mandaue City.
Joo also allegedly punched a policeman.
At around 7 p.m., the Mandaue City Police Station 1 received a call from Alang-alang barangay Councilman Celso Panares who complained about a man in the middle of the road.
PO3 Leo Batigalao, PO2 Arthur Cuyos, and other policemen tried to bring Joo to hospital for a liquor test but the Korean opposed the idea and tried to break free from them.
After taking a few steps forward, he fell and stood and fell again with the policemen on his heels.
At the Mandaue City Hospital, he again resisted to undergo a liquor test and punched Batigalao on the face.
Joo was subdued and taken to the police station 1.
Charges will be filed against him.
