2 men stabbed In Lapu-Lapu

CEBU, Philippines - A 43-year-old man was stabbed Friday by a mentally deranged man while a cellshop owner was also stabbed by youngsters while being held up in barangay Basak, Lapu-Lapu City.

Rodrigo Lumongtad, 43, married and a resident of the place was at a nearby store when Cecil Young alias "Bobong," who resides in the place, stabbed him.

Young is alleged to be suffering from a mental problem.

Lapu-Lapu City Homicide Police said Lumongtad sustained a wound on his lower abdomen.

Young immediately fled after the incident but was arrested when he came home later in the evening to eat.

Young said he stabbed Lumongtad to get even with him. Lumongtad denied the allegations.

Young is now detained at the Lapu-Lapu City Police Office pending the filing of charges against him.

Meanwhile, at around 11 p.m. of the same day, Franklin Alcontin, 22, a cellshop dealer in barangay Basak, Lapu-Lapu City sustained multiple stabbed wounds inflicted by a group of youngsters who held him up while he was on his way for home.

Alcontin said he was on his way home when the group blocked his way and declared a holdup.

He was stabbed several times when he refused to give up his things.

The youngsters immediately fled.

Alcontin was brought to the Lapu-Lapu City Hospital but was later transferred to a hospital in Cebu City.
