Broadcaster warns of swindler

CEBU, Philippines - The chief of staff for Visayas and Mindanao of the Alliance for Nationalism and Democracy (Anad) Partylist has warned the public of a man who allegedly befriended him and eventually victimizing him.

Engr. Greg Senining, also a broadcaster, realized just recently that he had been swindled after a certain Dondon Ysulan no longer returned his car stereo after several months of supposed repair.

Senining said he no longer knows Ysulan's whereabouts. Ysulan is reportedly from barangay Tamiao, Bantayan and had lived in Consolacion.

The Sony car stereo reportedly worth P25,000, Senining said.

Senining narrated that sometime August last year, Ysulan introduced himself to him as an electrician and mechanic and an avid listener of his radio program. Senining hosts the show "Tingog sa Lungsod" over Bantay Radyo.

Senining said he was checking his broken car headlight near a gasoline station at the North Reclamation Area during the time they met each other.

Ysulan reportedly offered to repair the headlight and after it was successfully done, Senining said he asked if Ysulan could also repair his car stereo. Ysulan said yes, but asked to bring the stereo to his repair shop in Consolacion to which Senining himself agreed.

Senining said Ysulan no longer showed himself up since then and the cellphone number he gave could no longer be reached.

Senining said he sought the help of an Anad volunteer to check on Ysulan's whereabouts in Bantayan Island and it was then that he learned that Ysulan had established a reputation of being a swindler there. Many other supposed victims are also reportedly looking for him.

It is reportedly Ysulan's style to bring the items to his shop for repair, but the items no longer get returned.

Senining said he will file a case against Ysulan so he can be arrested or, at the very least, the public will be warned of his modus. (FREEMAN)
