Bedtime Story

MANILA, Philippines – For spring/summer 2016, Vania Romoff turns to children’s clothing for inspiration. Periodic images of children’s clothing in Pre-Raphaelite and fin de siècle art, to be exact. With a baby girl on the way, it comes as no surprise that the designer’s influences extend to thoughts of motherhood. In fact, the very first piece she designed for the range is a beautiful baby bib-inspired top with a cape that trails off the back. The result is a delicate, ultra-feminine collection that’s refined and playful, sleek yet easy, and ultimately very pretty.

Cases in point: painterly floral patches add extra dimension to floor-sweeping frocks (that come with pockets, how nifty!), flounced hems give slim trousers an unexpectedly dainty spin, and grosgrain trims breathe new life into Vania’s signature off-shoulder creations. A flurry of ribbons ties off her summer wears, ranging from outsized knots in wine-colored coordinates and sleeveless linen tops to dainty bows accenting graceful lace gowns and high-collar prairie dresses.

On the beauty front, romance also reigns supreme. Loose tendrils from a relaxed low ponytail frame a flushed face softened with pale pink lids and a rosy lip. Sweet.
