A closer look

MANILA, Philippines - London calling—from blunt bangs to cool chokers, we give you the lowdown on London Fashion Week’s most covetable beauty and accessory trends.

Seeing Red

Beauty is on red alert at London Fashion Week, at least when it comes to lipstick shades. Over at Giles, berry-hued lips were blurred around the edges for a soft-focus finish while puckers were painted a vampy shade of matte oxblood at Burberry Prorsum. Meanwhile, Topshop played it cool by pairing smudged black liner with crimson lipstick applied straight from the tube.

Eye Candy

While we’re besotted with the ultra-glossy green lids at Holly Fulton, clumpy blue lashes at Mary Katrantzou, and the space age silver cat eyes at Markus Lupfer, it’s the spunky beauty looks at Ashish and Marques’ Almeida that really caught our eye. The former razzle dazzled by swapping eyeshadow with multi-colored metallic sequins while the latter provided a fun alternative to under eye concealer with fluoro-pink shadow blended under the eyes.

The Shortcut?

Ever tried trimming your bangs only for it to end in disaster? Well, you’re in luck because if the LFW runways are any indication, uneven fringes are a huge hit for spring/summer 2016. Among the labels who joined the bangin’ bandwagon are Sibling, Marques ’ Almeida, and Christopher Kane. Cop the look by keeping the fringe super short (think half-forehead coverage only) and choppy.?

Pack Leader?

The moment the models walked down the Burberry Prorsum runway with low-slung monogrammed rucksacks on their backs, we knew the backpack has made a high fashion comeback. Forget athleisure—take cues from the British-born label and wear the bag with flirty lace minidresses or slinky floor-sweeping slips for a more feminine spin on the usually casual cool style.?

Neck And Neck?

We’re calling it: the choker is spring 2016’s necklace of choice. From black satin ribbons (that doubled as hair bows—how nifty) at Mary Katrantzou and sculptural gold necklaces at J.W. Anderson to gothic-inspired styles at MM6 Maison Margiela, it’s interesting to see how each fashion house came up with renditions unique to their brand. Quite a departure from the plastic tattoo chokers we’re all too familiar with during the ‘90s.
