The Sartorialist shoots Manila

MANILA, Philippines - The streets of Manila may not resemble the romantic cobbled grounds of Milan thoroughfares or the bustling roads of New York, but last Thursday, Scott Schuman was pounding the pavements of Ortigas.

Here to shoot a campaign for SM Megamall’s Mega Fashion Hall, opening in January next year, Schuman snapped 10 locals for the campaign, which is scheduled for release in mid-December.

“We shot my portrait by Coffee Bean in Megamall,” says jeweler Janina Dizon-Hoschka, who posed in a floor-length white dress by Norman Noriega and her own jewelry. “He was so nice and easy to work with. When I got the message asking if I wanted to be shot by The Sartorialist, I didn’t have to think, I instantly said yes.”

That’s the cachet SM is hoping to draw from when they release the campaign also featuring milliner and YStyle columnist Mich Dulce, singer Jessica Connelly, tattoo artist Sarah Gaugler (who makes an appearance on Schuman’s Instagram), Cura V’s Kai Lim, Elite managing director Eughie Teng, blogger/model Kim Jones, entrepreneur Mike Concepcion, football player Jonah Romero and director Sid Maderazo.

“I was free to shoot in a way that I normally do in a kind of open environment, and it was really dependent on the person, whether it was a full body or three-quarter or close or portrait,” says Schuman. “We had fun. It was good.”
