MANILA, Philippines - Preview magazine switched things up a bit this year by going straight to the point and giving people what they really want when they go out at night: free-flowing drinks and a fun dance party. “It’s been quite a while since we’ve had a proper turn on a dance floor, the kind that involves more than just fist-pumping to your favorite song,†Preview editor in chief Pauline Juan explained. “Preview turns 18 years old this month, and there is a need to party — to dance and drink amid good friends and great music.†The night promised three different genres from DJ Mars Miranda, DJ Funk Avy and DJ Eclipse, who was flown in from Singapore especially for the event. To warm up the crowd, Preview creative director Vince Uy and fashion director Daryl Chang took over the turntables.
Once Hyve was officially packed, Pauline took the mic to introduce a short film the team had prepared in order to introduce their new concept for the Best Dressed list. “Style is essentially a product of the relationships we build. It is on this premise that we’ve built this year’s Best Dressed List. After eight years of doing the same format, we’ve decided to shake things up a bit by celebrating the relationships that lead to being ‘Best Dressed,’†explained Pauline.
The video opened with designers Joey Samson and Ivar Aseron. Model and designer Tina Maristela-Ocampo followed, along with her three fashionable daughters, Betina, Selina and Juliana. Following in a similar vein were model Sarah Meier and her daughter Kaya Albano. Up next were the women behind home and fashion boutique, Cura-V: Kai Lim, Emi Jorge, Nicole Whisenhunt, Trish Calma and Camille Ongpauco. The next pair were familiar faces in the industry — Everywhere We Shoot’s Ryan and Garovs Vergara. Sizzling up the list were hot muse and designer pair Xtina Superstar and fashion designer Boom Sason. Janina Dizon-Hoschka also made it, together with her client-friends Ria Bolivar, Ruby Gan and Ann Jacobe. Twin sisters An and En Estrada were also featured frolicking by the beach in their signature boho-chic aesthetic. Of course, no style list would be complete without Manila’s fashion blogging triumvirate: Laureen Uy, Camille Co and Patricia Prieto. Celebrity stylist and current Preview fashion editor at large Liz Uy rounded out the list with her celebrity clients Bea Alonzo, Isabelle Daza and Vice Ganda.
