Broad new strokes for an old luxury label

MANILA, Philippines - Known for discreet luxury, Tod’s has embraced its wild side for fall/winter 2012, in permutations that feel foreign to the legions who worship at its taupe suede altar.

Red and magenta on a calf leather clutch, red trim in sheepskin on a black D-Styling shopper in calf leather — bold hues are the highlight of the season. Next to its usual spate of neutrals, hues like cherry, powder pink, sunny yellow, paprika, teal, with flashes of orange and fuchsia, are the not-so-usual game changers.

For the new season, the Tod’s Signature Collection features the classic semi-opaque nappa, shiny calfskin and ultra-soft sheepskin with a suede effect. The styles include different shapes and sizes: the iconic shoulder bag, a portfolio clutch, a small trunk style, a two size shopper, a bauletto, a soft envelope clutch and a pochette.

Other highlights include the metallic loafers and Tod’s classic take on the penny loafer.

A special effect inspired by the Gommino, imprinted on the leather is a trade mark of a distinctive style which is coherent with the Tod’s philosophy.
