MANILA, Philippines - Etude, which means “to learn” in French, celebrates its latest spring collection with Ms Tangerine. “The trend is yellow, orange, red-orange and vivid orange for spring 2011,” says Etude brand manager Yoon Se Il, who namechecked Prada and Marc Jacobs for their graphic, LSD-tripping use of color.
Modeled by endorser Sandara Park, whose cute face matches the collection’s playful theme according to Yoon, the collection consists of an eyeshadow palette, powdered pearls, cream blusher, cheek and lip tint and glossy lipstick, all in various shades of tangerine.
While in Korea the trend veers towards natural tones — “like you didn’t put on any makeup,” says makeup artist Jeon Min Ae — eye makeup has gone a bolder route. “In the past, eye makeup was not strong,” says Jeon. “Now we try to make eye makeup stronger to make the eyes look bigger.”
Makeup tip
Makeup artist Jeon Min Ae suggests you wear jewelry to match your makeup. Pair necklace and earrings in a hue similar to your eyeshadow, for example, to create a glowing effect. The matching tones give the impression of a halo, which makes you look naturally radiant.
