MILAN — “This is the time for real clothes that you can wear,” said Miuccia Prada backstage after her much-applauded preppy winter collection. Camel-colored coats with shearling lapels layered over chunky knit sweaters, belted cardigans and navy blazers took center stage at her menswear fall/winter 2010-2011 show. As part of her Milan presentation, Prada sent out cheeky womenswear, mixing yellow and mauve knits, contrasting tangerine lining on an open-necked blue and yellow checked anorak and dizzying camo prints in pinks and browns.
Fans of her minimalist pieces will have to cool their jets for now. Colorful waffle knits and printed outerwear are sure to be cool for the coming fall.
