They say that there are no ugly women, just lazy ones. I believe that there are no boring outfits, just lack of accessories. If you think about it, almost all of us have the same basic items in our closets: tank tops, sweaters, jeans, leggings, skirts, etc. But what sets the stylish apart is that they know good tailoring makes even the simplest things look fantastic, and they know how to change the look of their outfits through strategic accessorizing. A bold cocktail ring here, a splash of color on the belt, or maybe a sexy chunky pair of shoes can make a plain white tank top and jeans combo suddenly look current and fresh.

Ann Ong knows how much a statement-making necklace or belt can add to your usual ensemble. She creates her own line of high-impact embellished pieces that can make even the rattiest of outfits look chic. “It all started with a love for accessories and the realization of the market’s need for quality but affordable items. It also stemmed from my love for accessories, and how they could enliven plain and simple outfits. Creating this brand made me realize that looking good does not require a big price tag. It only takes a good sense of style and individuality,” shares Ann. Her current collection is a bit luxe, a bit quirky. There are neon ribbon swirls, lace-covered colored stones, classy pearls and velvet bows — her belts and necklaces, all hand-made, are elegant and fun at the same time, and with everything priced below P1,000, everyone can afford to add flair to their outfits. Her pieces make you look like you’ve always known how to have fun with fashion, and not like you’re trying too hard to look cool. Isn’t that, after all, supposed to be the whole point? We should all have fun and express ourselves, and not try so hard to look like a clone of a celebrity or a magazine page.
