MANILA, Philippines - A thought that should haunt you on Halloween night: staying home. Especially when Lomography Embassy Manila is raising the dead with “The Freaks Are Out!” — the cam council’s third anniversary Halloween costume ball, starting at 9 p.m. tomorrow (Oct. 30) at B-Side, The Collective (7274 Malugay St., Makati City).
Of course, you should expect some red-hot murder on the dance floor through the music of spin-spin sugars Ornusa Cadness, Mia Ayesa and Sanya Smith — a model/DJ collective that, aptly enough, calls itself The Zombettes. And while these three furies will make you freak on the floor, you’ll fear stopping for rest when Sinosikat, Mulan, Red-I, Don P, Sunflower, Cosmic Love, Spoonman, and The Juan Pablo Dream will be keeping the music alive and kicking.
And just to make tomorrow’s fright night a little more right for the going, know that the three people with the sickest costumes win Lomography gift packages. To spook you into submission, premier lensmen Steve Tirona and Brendan Goco rounded up pose posse Ornusa Cadness, Mia Ayesa and Sanya Smith, as well as Collective-dwelling creatures Gaby de la Merced and Brent Javier, for a Lomo video wall exhibit slickly put together by the Team Manila Graphic Design Studio.
Here, just for this section, are shots of our Zombettes in their Zombie best, all taken using Lomography camera Horizon and Slide film for that hallowed treatment of graininess and saturation that only a Lomo such as this can create. Nothing like documenting a whole lot of dread and debauchery during the one night in the year the freaks come first.
