MANILA, Philippines - If Shaira Luna’s name rings a bell, that’s because she had infiltrated our toddler minds, and made every parent fancy a genius for a child. A junior anatomist at eight? Shaira was set to become the next Doogie Howser, MD. But being 13 and taking up pre-med was the turning point; and photography was her escape of choice.
While her army of watchers didn’t expect her to take a more artistic path, they also didn’t fail to take notice of her photographs. Having been caught in the thrill of the click for four and a half years, Shaira is no stranger to the scene, as she juggles writing and graphic design gigs.
Her expertise and palpable passion are what made her a perfect fit for the U92 shoot. Bathrobed dolls and liquor-toting, shaving cream-lathered, stripped down jocks may be a little risqué for her taste, but being crowned O.G. (“original gangsta”) by the station manager, Shaira’s just all too glad to up her street cred.
