The look of the future

Fashionistas flocked to Embassy Cuisine on a breezy Friday night to celebrate 12 years of the country’s style bible, Preview. It was a meaningful affair for the creative industry since the event also heralded the 10 lovely ladies who made it onto the yearly Best Dressed List. A night overflowing with sparkling drinks and cocktails, hip and young Manila partied the night away in their retro-futuristic outfits, and all together toasted to the future of fashion — which, to Preview magazine, looks future perfect.

ANNE CURTIS

What is your fashion wish for the future?

To attend a fashion show by Chanel and be seated beside Mischa Barton.

PATTY EUSTAQUIO

Which contem-porary style do you think will become a classic in the future?

Most things are just revisions of past constructions, and being contemporary relies heavily on technology: new materials, improved fur, etc. But I guess the deconstruction introduced by the Japanese designers of more than a decade past will be a classic of the future.

VALERIE DELOS SANTOS

Who do you think will be the next fashion icon?

Can’t think of anyone else but Kate Moss...  She’s the present and the future.

TESSA CELDRAN

How do you spot the next fashion trend?

I’m not a fan of trends as they are fleeting. What I like, though, is trying something new.

TESSA DRAGON

What are you looking forward to in fashion for next year?

More fashion collaborations with top celebrities/personalities not just with clothes, but venturing into makeup collaborations as well with top designers.

MIA BORROMEO

How would you describe fashion in the coming 10 years?

As the saying goes, “The more something changes, the more it remains the same.” I think most of the new trends will continue to be fresh takes on old classics.

KAREN DAVILA

What is your fashion goal for the future?

To be gorgeous at every age.

PAULINE LAO

Which fashion style would you like to come back in the near future?

Boastful skirts with petticoats, and tank tops with big bra cups.

SUSIEAN GO

What kind of shoe style would you stand up for in the future?

Flats: whether they’re ballerina shoes or sandals. Carrying your baby in heels is quite difficult! For day-to-day wear, flats are just easier and more comfortable compared to walking around in heels the whole day — although stilettos at night are the way to go for me when I’m wearing something dressier.
