Pink power

The buzzing of girl power reverberated at People’s Palace as Cream Silk launched its campaign of "Pink Power, Girl Power: Power & Beauty. Choose Both." It is the rallying call for all women to fearlessly pursue their wildest dreams, even venture into traditionally male-dominated fields, and succeed while still remaining beautiful with their straighter, more beautiful hair from New Pink Cream Silk. The pink-themed lunch was attended by Marikina Mayor Marides Fernando and a new roster of empowered and beautiful girl power icons: Gabby dela Merced, Asian Formula 3 racer; Roanna Reyes, architect; Lougee Basabas, lead vocalist of Mojofly; Rainey Sta. Maria, wakeboarder; and Toni Leviste, Olympic equestrienne.

DORAY DEE

Do you think the modern Filipina lives girl power?

Definitely! Filipinas are starting to recognize their power to succeed, even in male-dominated fields, and to embrace their beauty!

MIKKI RAVELO

Power or beauty? What would you rather have?

In this day and age, no woman should settle for one or the other. I choose both – to have the power to pursue my life’s passions, and to possess beauty that is uniquely Filipina.

NORA VALERIANO

While pursuing your passions, how do you ensure you remain beautiful?

Despite my hectic schedule, I always make sure I take care of myself. I apply sunblock, moisturize my skin and condition my hair. So I am always refreshed, beautiful and ready for any challenge.

GABBY DELA MERCED

Are guys intimidated by your need for speed?

If they do, no one’s had the courage to tell me! For me, my drive to excel in my sport makes me uniquely me. I believe that passion for racing should never be about gender.

LOUGEE BASABAS

How do you maintain your femininity in the world of rock?

I love to glam up for concerts! I look up to Gwen Stefani’s style, but I still have my own thing going on. My style makes me feel more confident and relaxed, and enhances my performance.

TONI LEVISTE

How do you embody your choice of power and beauty?

I believe that empowerment and beauty can only be expressed through action. When I put on my helmet and boots, I am in my element. I know I have the power to achieve anything.

ROANNA REYES

What inspires you when designing a home?

My designs, more often than not, have a story and meaning. Inspiration to create comes from my surroundings, my travels and my mood.  Even more, I think a woman brings to the table a different kind of touch and charm that makes the designs special and unique.

RAINEY STA. MARIA

What makes you powerful and beautiful?

Knowing myself – my strengths, weaknesses and boundaries, and having a keen understanding of the people and circumstances around me.
