Shades of things to come

Time magazine dubbed it "visions of tomorrow." Cycling star Lance Armstrong, six-time Tour de France champ, sports it. Rapper/producer Lil Jon has it on all day. Our own actor Victor Neri never leaves home without it. Hot model Brad Turvey wants nothing more than to have one. TV host Rovilson Fernandez knows it suits his active lifestyle. Actually, it fits anyone’s lifestyle. Okay, okay, it’s the Oakley Thump.

Yet another revolutionary product from an invention-driven company, the Oakley Thump pushes eyewear dependability to a new and exciting high. Optic-wise, it is superior in quality, what with its plutonite lens material that protects the eyes 100 percent from UVA, UVB, UVC rays and even the harmful blue light. It’s fitted with O Matter frame, making it practically feather-light in less than 1.9 ozs. Its flip-up lenses allow one to immediately adjust to low light environments.

Now, you see why the Oakley Thump may well be one of today’s objects of desire. But hear this: The Oakley Thump is actually as much an eyewear as it is an MP3 player. Yes, you heard me right. Now, music players or wires need not take up space in your bag. Everything you need for the ultimate music experience is all in your head. It’s not just all about style – it’s also about practicality, convenience and, of course, groove.

Oakley Thump has a high-speed USB connection that allows one to download music, be it an MP3, WMA, WMA with DRM or WAV from Mac or Windows PC. It also boasts a 75MHz digital signal processor that is made up of an 18-bit sigma delta digital-to-analog converter. More, each pair has an automatic muti-EQ or equalizer to give crystal clear sound. The Mylar earphones on this eyewear have also been custom-designed with the customer’s supreme enjoyment in mind. Fact is, the earphones can be adjusted three ways – forward-to-back boom extension, boom rotation, and speaker pivoting. This ensures that you achieve hearing balance in terms of the music playing and the social environment around you. Even better, it’s made of durable, solid-state memory, which means that you can be sure of skip-free music whatever you do. Additionally, all the controls are conveniently placed where you can immediately find them: right on the frame geometry.

Worried it’s not going to keep you company for as long as you wish?

I wouldn’t be. Because the Oakley Thump is equipped with light but very durable rechargeable lithium-ion battery that can keep the music playing for up to six hours.

By the way, music isn’t all you can load into the Oakley Thump. You can also use this smart sunglass for storing documents and files. Now, you can truly say that it’s all in your head!

It comes in 128 MB, which can store up to 60 songs, and 250 MB, which can manage 120 songs. This new Oakley creation is available in seven color combinations. The 128 MB Oakley Thump is available in matte black/black iridium, rootbeer/bronze, and white camo/black iridium. The 250 MB Oakley Thump is available in red camo Lil Jon/black iridium polarized, matte black/black iridium polarized, night camo/black iridium polarized, and tortoise/gold iridium polarized.

The Oakley Thump is making its debut in the Philippines on April 21. A pair – plus an MP3 player and data storage rolled into one amazing eyewear – will cost from P25,000 to P36,000.
