Sanbashi by the sea

Even it's already been a year since Sanbashi Japanese Restaurant opened, it still remains one of Luneta Park's best kept secrets, a restaurant straight out of the Land of the Rising Sun, frequented mostly by a devoted flock of Japanese expatriates.

Located right beside the Quirino Grand Stand, near the newly-opened Boardwalk, Sanbashi, which roughly translates to "port," is set among the area's old-growth trees. The two-story building consists of an outdoor patio called Plaza Izakaya, where sake, sushi and sashimi are served al fresco; the 2nd floor air-conditioned dining area of Sanbashi; and, its adjacent outdoor terrace, overlooking Manila Bay. There is a private function room for a maximum party of 20 people, as well as a teppanyaki table for those who don't mind cooking their own meals.
