I have a confession to make.
I started blogging in December 2009 primarily because some of my friends said it was possible to earn money through one's blog.
So I started blogging, initially using free blogging sites like Wordpress.com and Blogger. I was totally clueless then, and I had NO idea how I could make money from blogging.
Eventually, I decided to set up TrulyRichMom.com, mainly because I was inspired by Catholic lay preacher and author Bo Sanchez’s book, 8 Secrets of the Truly Rich. Around the same time I set up my "virtual home" -- where I hope to inspire others by sharing about the riches of faith, family and life in general -- my husband and I were blessed to be able to attend seminars on financial literacy. We learned a lot about basic financial management strategies, different investment vehicles, and strategies for building one's financial foundation.
That was over three years ago. Since then, we have been trying hard to put into practice everything that we have learned from those seminars, plus Bro. Bo’s books and teachings on financial management and investing. At present, we are blessed that I am able to earn extra income through my blog, mostly through ads and sponsored posts -- it has even become a "vehicle" by which we are able to pay for some of our children's homeschooling expenses!
Admittedly though, there are times when we fail to abide by the lessons we've learned about financial management. To be completely honest, we are not 100% "in the clear" financially -- we are still paying off debts, and are building up our savings -- but we hope to be financially stable soon, with God’s help!
An invitation to learn from one of the country's top financial bloggers, Fitz Villafuerte
Now, dear readers, if YOU want to increase your financial literacy, learn how to budget for your family and plan financially for the future, among other things, you are in luck! The event is organized by Manila Workshops, and will provide attendees with hands-on and interactive activities that will teach them how to properly manage and balance family budget, plan for their kids’ education or their parents’ retirement, while ensuring that they still have money left to invest for them to achieve their financial goals.
Topics that will be discussed during the workshop include the zero-based budget system for households, money lessons for kids, personal finance strategies for married couples, and sandwich generation survival tips.
According to the organizers, anyone can join the workshop, though it is specifically designed for (a) Couples who are finding it hard to budget their income to sustain the needs of their family; (b) Breadwinners who are taking care of their parents, or involved in elder care at home; (c) Single parents who are finding it hard to achieve work-life balance; (d) People who have depending on them financially; and (e) Newlyweds who would like to know how to become financially independent from their parents.
