Upcoming ABS-CBN reality show “The Biggest Loser Pinoy Edition” aired its primer on May 15, Sunday, with “Megastar” Sharon Cuneta finally speaking up on her own fight against obesity. In a rare interview, Sharon shared the physical and emotional pains of people who are regarded by society as fat, obese and heavy.
The “Biggest Loser” is a television show aired on various countries and territories, and features overweight contestants in their big journey to self-change. Every week, they will undergo rigorous training and physical and emotional challenges in order to lose weight. All contestants have one goal: to lose the highest percentage of weight and become “The Biggest Loser.” Bringing the said global show franchise to Philippine TV is ABS-CBN.
“The Biggest Loser Pinoy Edition” invited select members of the entertainment press to experience training themselves at the show’s training camp in General Trias, Cavite. Pinoy Gossip Boy was the only blogger invited in the said set visit.
The group was met by now US-based kickboxer and gym-owner Chinggay Andrada and US-educated sports medicine specialist coach Jim Saret. Chinggay and Coach Jim will serve as the trainers of the contestants as they embark on their journey to radical weight loss.

While inside the training camp, the visiting press underwent short trainings under Chinggay and Coach Jim, giving them the feel of what the contestants will experience. “The Biggest Loser Pinoy Edition” resident nutritionist Nadine Tengco, likewise a US-certified professional, gave a talk on the myths of weight loss in the Philippines. Chinggay, Coach Jim, and Nadine will make sure that the contestants are on track with their exercise regimens and properly nourished at the same time.
The training camp, formerly a club house for a country and golf club, boasts of state-of-the-art facilities that will enable the show to monitor the daily improvements on the contestants’ weight-loss program.
The new reality show is set to air its pilot episode on May 30, Monday. Sharon will be the main host while sports buff and actor Derek Ramsay will be her co-host.
