Madrid Fusión Manila: A new age of cooking

MANILA, Philippines - The Philippines, through Madrid Fusión Manila, is ushering Asia into a new age of cooking. In April, the country becomes the perfect host to Madrid Fusión Manila, an event that features culinary chemistry and shows transformation of traditional to modern cuisines.

As part of the tourism campaign Visit the Philippines Year 2015, Madrid Fusión Manila puts the country on the map of the culinary world, with 350 international congress delegates, 23 international speakers and 300 foreign journalists attending.

Annually held in Madrid, Spain since 2003, Madrid Fusión will be coming to Asia for the very first time, choosing the Philippines as its country host from April 24-26 at the SMX Convention Center in Pasay City. It will be attended by leading chefs from five continents to discuss and share new culinary ideas in this can’t-miss feast fit for every food lover.

Among them are chefs from restaurants awarded with Michelin stars, the hallmark of fine dining quality and restaurants around the world. These include Spain’s National Prize for Gastronomy awardee Andoni Luis Aduriz, Restaurant magazine’s “Top Female Chef” Elena Arzak and authority on the use of rice in Spanish cooking Quique Dacosta.

Madrid Fusión Manila will feature three exciting events – the 3-day International Gastronomy Congress, the 3-day Trade Exhibition and the Flavors of the Philippines Festival.

At the International Gastronomy Congress, the Department of Tourism and Tourism Promotions Board (TPB) expect 700 local and 700 foreign attendees that include professionals, students and members of the academe and media.

“It is a perfect opportunity to celebrate 300 years of shared history between two countries and show to the world that the Philippines is a melting pot of tasteful dishes not limited by boundaries,” said TPB chief operating officer Domingo Ramon Enerio III. “We hope to get the best in culinary arts to come to Manila for Madrid Fusión.”

Madrid Fusión Manila is the main culinary event of the Visit the Philippines Year 2015 (VPY), a year-long tourism campaign that features an exciting mix of events and activities, as well as the unveiling of more historic treasures, natural wonders, and unforgettable adventures.
