MANILA, Philippines - The first name in ship management, Univan, marks its 40th anniversary celebration by opening its new Philippines headquarters.
Univan recently opened its new modern office in Manila, reflecting the important role the Philippines plays in the company’s global operations.
The new office will provide seafarers with improved facilities and better access to management and services.
“We have made a significant investment in the new Manila office. We think it is important that we are able to work with our seafarers when they are ashore in a modern and comfortable environment,†said Univan CEO Bjorn Hojgaard.
“We are celebrating our 40th anniversary in 2013, and this investment in Manila, lays the foundation for the next 40 years as we have a long-term commitment to our business in the Philippines,†added Hojgaard.
Univan enjoys one of the highest crew retention rates in the industry at 95 percent. This is a result of the emphasis the company places on crew welfare.
Univan ensures that crewmembers have both a long-term career track mapped out for them as well as in the more immediate term, a fixed plan of employment each time they come off a contract from a ship.
The new office follows the opening of Univan’s own fully equipped training center in Manila in 2010. The company has a well-established cadet and officer development programs and in-house specialist training.
