MANILA, Philippines - As the advocacy arm of the Primer Group of Companies, a premier brand builder, the Center for Outdoor Recreation and Expedition or C.O.R.E. has continuously dedicated its efforts to support environmental conservation, eco-tourism, and community development.
This is why it is only fitting that C.O.R.E recently partnered with Right Start Community Development Inc. to provide much-needed aid for typhoon “Sendong†survivors in Cagayan de Oro City.
With the increasing popularity of its tourism sector, Cagayan de Oro is one of the country’s natural gems and is a favored spot for water sports and other recreational activities.
Thus, C.O.R.E. was keen on helping rehabilitate one of the devastated areas of the province by partnering with Right Start to raise funds for a rehabilitation center to be constructed at the Bacal compound in Barangay Balulang.
According to C.O.R.E, “It is with hope that through this, the community of Bacal compound in Balulang will have a venue to hold regular life skills sessions, counseling and stress debriefing programs for adults and children.â€
Soon after C.O.R.E.’s generous turnover of funds to get things started for the rehabilitation center, some Right Start volunteers went to Cagayan de Oro to oversee the development of the project, which was monitored by architect Howard Go.
Aside from checking on the construction of the rehabilitation center, their visit in June last year was also a great opportunity to meet with community leaders and church representatives to get them better acquainted with Right Start’s community development programs.
“It is vital that the people take part in this project as well. This way, they will co-own the project initiatives to further strengthen and sustain its progress in the future,†says Right Start.
Now, with the completion of the rehabilitation center, volunteers from the Primer Group based in Cagayan de Oro, were immensely proud to take part in the blessing of the newly built Right Start CDO Center last August where they also got to interact with community members and see how they are currently doing.
Always with a strong dedication to nation building, C.O.R.E. is not one to shy away from taking on responsibilities such as this that in the long run will help so many Filipinos.
