MANILA, Philippines - Cebu Pacific Air (CEB) is giving away airline tickets and premium gift items at the North Philippine (NorthPhil) Tourism and Travel Expo slated at the Marquee Mall in Angeles City, Pampanga starting today until Sunday.
The airline tickets, according to the Department of Tourism’s Central Luzon regional office, will be raffled off to visitors by CEB during its daily fun games and presentations at the NorthPhil Expo.
DOT-Central Luzon director Ronnie Tiotuico said the promo was designed to boost air travel to North Philippines and provide an experiential meaning to the airline’s campaign “It’s time every Juan flies.”
CEB, which has been supporting the annual expo for four years now, will also have its own pavilion where it will offer low fares to Singapore, Bangkok, Macau, Hong Kong and Cebu, according to Tiotuico.
“CEB will thus raise further the traffic volume at the Clark International Airport, which recently hit its target of one million passengers this year,” Tiotuico said.
“We invite ‘every Juan’ to attend the NorthPhil Expo and visit the CEB booth for the best travel deals to CEB’s most extensive Philippine and ASEAN network. We operate five direct routes to Clark and will continue to stimulate travel to North Luzon through consistent direct services on the lowest fares,” said CEB vice president for marketing and distribution Candice Iyog.
Travel to North Philippines is also being promoted by the Pampanga Agents Travel Society (PATS), this time through a tourism quiz competition among college students on the second day of the three-day expo.
Dubbed as “It’s More Fun @ NorthPhil Expo Quiz Bee Challenge,” the event is being co-organized by PATS with the expo organizing committee and the DOT regional offices in Ilocos, Cagayan Valley, Central Luzon and Cordillera Administrative Region.
The competition is sponsored by the Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority (SBMA) and the Clark Development Corp., and shall involve college students from various schools all over North Philippines.
The quiz participants, who must be endorsed by their school advisers, should wear their respective uniforms and IDs during the contest. No registration fee shall be collected.
Nonetheless, the registration form must be fully accomplished and submitted together with the photocopy of the school ID with the picture of each contestant.
The quiz bee is among the expo’s many activities that include cultural, regional and corporate presentations, raffle draws and game shows amid colorful tourism exhibits, culinary demonstrations and a food festival.
The exhibitors will come from as far north as the Cordilleras and as far south as South-central Mindanao, and many others in between and beyond, including the Sabah Tourism Board.
The other major exhibitors include the provinces of Bataan, Aurora, Zambales and Nueva Ecija, the Angeles City Tourism Office, and the Tourism Infrastructure and Enterprise Zone Authority.
Aside from CEB, there are Air Asia and Asiana Airlines to bring the exhibitors and visitors all the way to Angeles City for the expo.
Expected to attend the expo are conference and convention organizers, educational institutions, government entities, international and domestic travelers, local, foreign and corporate buyers, tour organizers, planners and holiday specialists, travel agents and tour operators, travel enthusiasts, and the general public.
The three-day event is supported by the SBMA and the provinces of Pampanga and Tarlac as destination partners, Cebu Pacific as the official airline partner, the Philippine Retirement Authority as major sponsor, and the Business Mirror, Sun Star Pampanga, Punto Central Luzon and CLTV 36 as media partners.
Also supporting the expo are the Manila North Tollways Corp., Association of Tourism Officers of Central Luzon, Central Luzon Tourism Council, and Philippine Exhibits and Themeparks Corp. (PETCO).
