MANILA, Philippines - In case you catch yourself in Manila’s stifling heat — an understatement, if you ask us — then you are better off cooling those heels at the Mabuhay Manor and its summer fun offering.
The activity is pretty easy to figure: drop by the Mabuhay Manor, go for a swim, and eat the summer away. Checking in is not a requirement, mind you. Just show up and avail yourself of the offering, and make summer a little more fun in the city.
The adults’ package is at P295 and comes complete with a set meal and iced tea while the kids’ is a steal at P200. They can swim and eat from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
“Instead of going to a faraway resort, consider spending your summer day at the Mabuhay Manor,” begins general manager James Lising. His statement makes complete sense. The hotel is mere minutes away from the airport, and a hop and a skip away from the Mall of Asia. The last claim may sound exaggerated but you get the idea: the Manor is so close you just must give it a try.
“Some locals still have not tried us out even though we are just in the neighborhood,” Lising says. “With this promo, our property is introduced to more people. They will find that we have a swimming pool and that we whip up some really delicious food.”
Lising kids no one when he says that the Manor’s culinary offerings can compete with the best in the city. Their Filipino cuisine is not easy to forget. In fact, that wonderful sinigang na ulo ng salmon sa miso is a Manor masterpiece. The soup, thickened with the rich salmon fat, is glorious in its bright yellow miso color. While it is divine eaten as is, it is almost impossible not to enjoy it with white-hot fluffy rice. Honorable mentions go to their beef steak, kare-kare, garlic shrimp with turnip salad and pickled green papaya, pinakbet, and deep-fried halayang ube.
The Manor is also famous for its Sutukil, an interactive dining experience that lets guests choose their food to be grilled, simmered in broth or drenched in vinegar. The chef will then cook the food right before the guests.
“Balikbayans are our target market,” he shares. “Our bisita sa bahay concept has proven to be a hit among them. The idea is pretty simple: we treat them the way Filipinos would treat visitors. We are talking about the best food in the house, the best cutlery, everything. We offer them pica-pica, banana cue, camote cue, bibingka, fishball, balot, even sago at gulaman. We make sure our buffet breakfast is filled with old-time favorites. Go to our lobby and you will see traditional games such as sungka.”
It is no rocket science to deduce that these have proven to be runaway hits. The Manor knows all too well that these products are best delivered with excellent service, something which crops up every now and then in their guest feedback forms.
“Our service comes from the heart of our employees. We are God’s ambassadors and we serve as a channel of blessings to guests and to the community. Our guests will feel it from the staff,” Lising says.
The Manor’s 115 well-appointed rooms have likewise earned the approval of guests the world over. They can choose from a variety of bigger-than-your-average rooms and suites. The hotel is near shopping centers, airports, and a host of other points of interest.
There is no other way, really, but to actually experience the Mabuhay Manor. Lising promises: “When people come here, all the things they expect they will see here.”
