MANILA, Philippines - This October, come to Manila Hotel and be part of the month-long celebration of its 99th anniversary with an exciting line-up of concerts, activities, and promotions.
To kick off the festivity, young German jazz bands Hot Brownies and WilliT Blend will perform for a three-night concert at the Manila Hotel.
Playing a kind of music twice their age, Hot Brownies is a fresh breeze of air even with their 1950s’ hardbop music style.
The septet, one of the fastest rising bands in Germany, has already played with the Federal German Jazz Orchestra, the European Jazz Orchestra, and many more.
WilliT Blend, on the other hand, is a bit of everything. Their music is a wonderful mix of jazz, classical, pop, and a lot of individuality. Will it blend? You be the judge.
On Oct. 9, Hot Brownies will be performing at the Taproom. Let their music take you back to the brilliant 50s as you enjoy the bar’s delicious drinks of the month: Grand Dame and Italian Soda for P280 net each.
An old-time favorite, Grand Dame is a mix of rhum, crème de cacao, Galliano, lemon and orange juices. A non-alcoholic drink, Italian Soda is a blend of sparkling water and hazelnut syrup.
WilliT Blend and Hot Brownies will share the stage as they serenade diners at the Champagne Room on Oct. 10. A special Oktoberfest-inspired menu will be offered for P2,000++ only.
The menu includes handmade mini pretzels dunk in melted cheese with dark beer, spaetzle with grilled sausage, Hefeweizen Sorbet, pan-fried Parisian veal schnitzel, and hot brownies with hazelnuts, cherry ice cream, and Bavarian custard sauce.
On Oct. 11, Hot Brownies will be performing at the Lobby and guests can enjoy a wine overflow offering from 7 to 11 p.m.
The wine buffet will offer red, white, sparkling wines, and champagne. Price starts at P880 ++ per person.
The series of jazz concerts will reach its culmination with a free concert on Oct. 15 with Jazzin’ Manila: A Prelude to a Fest to be held at the Manila Hotel Tent City.
The jazz event, presented by Manila Hotel and P.I Jazzfest Foundation, will feature Scott Henderson, Jeff Berlin, and Dennis Chambers together with Bleu Rascals, The Jazz Fusion and other artists. Doors will open at 6 p.m. and a special selection of food and drinks from Manila Hotel will be offered.
Apart from music and entertainment, Manila Hotel has prepared a selection of cuisines and promotions for all the days of October.
Until Oct. 9, Café Ilang-Ilang will be opening a 10th buffet station that will feature all your Manila Hotel favorites including bibingka, halo-halo, lapu-lapu fillet in aligi sauce, kare-kare, three colored lumpia Maynila, adobo, pancit Malabon, and purple yam roll.
Have a taste of a special anniversary menu at the Champagne Room that includes the favorites of President Manuel Quezon, the squab chicken manhoco made of stuffed chicken terrine with mushrooms, olives, and quezo de bola, and of Gen. Douglas MacArthur, El Mero Envolvio en Hojas de Platano made of lapu-lapu wrapped in banana leaves with calamansi sauce and fried banana.
To complete the gustatory delight on this merry month of October, sweets are aplenty. The Heavenly Chocolate Buffet at the Café Ilang-Ilang will again delight all chocolate lovers while the cake of the month, Fresh Mango Tapioca Dulce de Leche, combines the all-time Filipino favorites: mango and leche flan.
