MANILA, Philippines - In the tradition of excellence, the Primer Group, through the dedication of its Center for Outdoor Recreation and Expedition (C.O.R.E.) arm, will soar to greater heights as it receives its latest global recognition.
The outstanding hard work and brilliance behind the “Kayak Philippines: Linking the Islands through Kayaking” gained serious admiration and won the Gold Award for Travel Journalism in the Travel Guidebook category given by the Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA), a global and prestigious travel organization.
PATA, who acts as a catalyst for the responsible development of the Asia-Pacific travel and tourism industry, annually awards the most outstanding programs and projects on various fields of travel and tourism with entries selected from various parts of the globe.
This year, more than 200 entries were submitted and 28 among these were given recognition.
With the country bagging two awards from PATA, the Primer Group clinches a special spot on this year’s roster of awardees. It is with humble pride that the company be given this recognition in the early stages of its publishing ventures.
Three years since it inception, the Primer Group have published four books that promote and rally behind environmental advocacy and sustainability — a trust that contributes to building and developing the country’s huge potential in sustainable ecotourism.
The Primer Group was represented by its president and CEO Jimmy Thai in the awarding ceremonies held last Sept. 17, also coinciding with the PATA Travel Mart 2010 at the Venetian Macao Resort Hotel, Macau SAR.
The “Kayak Philippines” book was co-published by the Department of Tourism.
