MANILA, Philippines - It’s that time of the year again for one of Macau’s most spectacular events — the Wynn Macau-20th Macau International Fireworks Display Contest — set to light up the city’s skies on Sept. 13, 14, 20 and 27 and Oct. 1.
In a recent press conference, Macau Government Tourist Office (MGTO) director João Manuel Costa Antunes announced that the contest, one of the most-awaited and exciting tourist events of the year, will continue to have Wynn Macau as the title sponsor.
Antunes said the contest is part of the diversification direction for the tourism development of Macau.
To this end, the MGTO introduced this year a series of promotions for visitors to experience Macau with the five senses — “See, Taste, Touch, Feel and Hear.”
Antunes said the contest would satisfy the visitors’ senses of “See” and “Hear” as the spectacular colors of modern-day and computer-generated pyrotechnics paint Macau’s evening skies.
Ten teams from various countries and regions, including the Philippines, all of them renowned pyrotechnic companies, have been invited to participate. Each team will also complement its display with music to enthrall audiences with a light and sound spectacular.
The venue will be the sea area in front of the Macau Tower. To enhance the enjoyment, sound systems will be installed at the waterfront of the Macau Tower Outdoor Plaza, the Macau Tower seaside and at the square in front of the Kun Lam statue of Dr. Sun Yat Sen Avenue.
In cooperation with the General Union of Neighbors Associations of Macau, the MGTO will further offer an array of live entertainment and cultural activities and culinary delights on the fireworks display nights.
Photo and drawing competitions will also be held under the Wynn Macau sponsorship. Winners will be awarded premium prizes and trophies.
Many of the competing fireworks teams have been previous winners, so a wonderful and once-in-a-lifetime experience is in store for all Macau visitors, as once again, Macau rolls out an unforgettable red-carpet “welcome.”
