MANILA, Philippines - The Holy Week may be over but the summer heat is likely to stay and what better way to beat the heat than go splashing, wading or sliding at the country’s best water park, the all-new Splash Island, in Biñan, Laguna.
Only a few minutes away from Makati, this sprawling aqua park is patterned after the biggest water parks in the United States with super fast slides that go through winding tubes, kiddie pool and slides and the country’s biggest wave pool, to name a few.
Now being managed by the Global Gutz Parks Philippines Inc., Splash Island has added attractions like Paint Balls, ATV and a spa to go with all the slides that can only be found at the aqua park.
For the thrill-seekers, the Dos Sopremos and King Pilipit are the top choices with plenty of turns and giant twisters. The Big Bam Boo, Twisted Palms and Tausug Trails, on the other hand, offer riders on inner tubes with thrilling back-to-back, 360-degree turns, full circle curves and down-the-tube dives.
The more adventurous adults can try out Magellan’s Drop, a four-level slide where riders race their way to pool level.
Not to be outdone, the little ones also have a special place at Splash Island. At least six attractions around the park are specially designed for kids.
The Curl of the Orient, Camp Carambola and the Twin Coco Knots are actually baby versions of the big slides. In Bannakita, children can have a river adventure while the Boon Docks gives them a fun-filled wilderness trek.
The Water Wahoo attraction, meanwhile, is an interactive kiddie pool with innovative water play activities that even adults love to wade in.
The Balsa River, meanwhile, offers a relaxing river ride around the park for the lazy body. Guests can ride an inner tube and drift along the flowing waterway that goes circling around the park.
Another group ride attraction is the Rio Montanosa, which takes guests on a mountain high river raft ride through giant tubes with twists and turns.
One of Splash Island ’s best attractions is the Agos Grandes, a giant pool where waves are generated by powerful turbines. The pool allows you to ride with the tide.
The park is staffed by close to a hundred pool technicians, lifeguards, guest relations officers and security personnel to ensure utmost convenience for all guests.
At every slide, at least two marshals are on-hand to guide the riders on how to ride correctly. In most rides, marshals will not allow guests to proceed with the ride until they are given assurance that the rider who went ahead has safely completed the slide down. This prevents riders from bumping into each other that can result in injuries.
The cleanliness of the water in all the attractions is also maintained by a centralized filtration system located at the center of the park. A team of pool technicians performs an hourly check on the water to make sure that it is healthy for treading.
To go to Splash Island, take the Southwoods exit, a kilometer away from the Petron gas station, and follow directional signs from the tollgate.
The park is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and until 8 p.m. during Boracay nights every Friday and Saturday.
