Singapore Airlines bags 'Best Airline' award

Readers of a leading travel magazine, Business Traveller Asia-Pacific, have voted Singapore Airlines (SIA) as “Best Airline” for the 17th consecutive time in its 2008 Readers’ Poll.

The airline was also voted as the winner in four other categories in the annual poll: Best Asia-Pacific Airline, Best First Class, Best Business Class, and Best Economy Class.

In another survey conducted by leading US-based magazine, Travel + Leisure, readers voted SIA as “Best International Airline” for the 13th consecutive time in its World’s Best Awards 2008 survey. The magazine has a readership of almost five million.

SIA’s newest aircraft in its fleet, the A380, has also received its share of accolades despite being in service for less than a year. UK-based Airline Business judged SIA as winner in the “Operations” category of its Airline Strategy Awards 2008, citing the work done to ensure a smooth entry into service of the Airbus A380.

SIA has also secured several repeat awards in categories ranging from in-flight service to food and beverage, ground services, safety and punctuality, and company management. This reflects the airline’s underlying philosophy to constantly innovate and keep pace with the changing tastes and preferences of customers.

SIA flies from Manila to Singapore three times daily utilizing Boeing 777 aircraft offering three classes – First, Business and Economy.
