Bromance Of The Week: Derek Ramsay And Zac Efron
MANILA, Philippines - A new friendship has hit showbiz: Derek Ramsay and Zac Efron. The two have been spotted playing golf in Sydney, with the former tweeting a picture of the two. Both celebrities are grabbing headlines these days, with Derek’s not-so-sudden move to TV5 to host Amazing Race Philippines and pictures of a naked Zac spreading online. According to Derek, the two met over Holy Week when Zac approached him, complimenting him on his golfing skills (not surprising) and saying he looks familiar (surprising). Rumor has it that Zac is soon visiting the Philippines to endorse Penshoppe, and it would only be too easy to imagine them meeting up and developing a lasting bromance, but whatever. #NoHomo
Mrs. Doubtfire Of The Week: Transgender Women On Miss Universe
After much controversy, Jenna Talackova was reinstated to the Miss Universe Canada pageant after she was discovered to be a transgendered woman. In compliance with the organization’s new rule, Jenna and transgendered women may now compete for the title of Miss Universe, a decision that has sparked intense debating. Before picking a side, it is important to know that a transgender is someone who utterly believes s/he was born in the wrong body and has undergone sex reassignment surgery, making it legal for him/her to “represent” in the new sex. This will be pop culture’s RH bill, but beckies are excited to book flights on Cebu Pacific’s TransFlightGender promo, a piso-fare trip to Thailand with a discount on boob jobs.
Tree Of The Week: Pines
High drama in Baguio this week. Environmentalists are at a tense stand-off with SM Supermalls. They say SM is cutting down 182 pine trees to build a parking lot. SM says it isn’t cutting anything down — the pines are being “earth-balled” and transferred to a location where SM will plant 50,000 more trees. In any case, the courts have ordered the mall giant to stop whatever it’s doing. SM has complied. But it seems something has been lost in the fray: The sad truth is, Baguio hasn’t been pretty for a long, long time. More than saving 182 trees, what Baguio needs to do is develop, and just plant more pines. —Team Supreme
Concert Of The Week: Lmfao In Manila
LMFAO was back to show the Philippines a good time at their concert at the Smart Araneta Coliseum , a large upgrade from their previous Republiq gig. The uncle-and-nephew tandem has hit the big time, shuffling their way to the top of the charts, their crowning success appearing alongside Madonna for her Superbowl halftime performance last February with 114 million viewers, making it the most watched halftime show ever. The concert was a raging hit, a frathouse of wild music and outrageous animal prints after a somber Holy Week. Concertgoers are sorry for party rocking.
K-Pop Band Of The Week: North Korea’s Shining Star
North Korea is at it again and the rest of the world is worried. Soon, the communist country will be launching a rocket to mark the 100th birth anniversary of Kim Il-Sung, a grand celebration that will highlight the 100-kg rocket. The world is wary, even other communist-associated states like Russia and China, who believe that the real purpose of the rocket is to test a ballistic missile, followed by a nuclear test featuring atomic weapons. The Philippines is scared that debris might fall in Metro Manila, but it is possible that it is all just a misunderstanding and that North Korea will just be launching a new K-Pop band to rival Big Bang. The name of the rocket, after all, is Shining Star.
