DAY 1: SATURDAY, AUGUST 7 MDW OPENING DAY

MANILA, Philippines - Born independently in 2005 and an MDW partner event since 2009, Graphika Manila is, without a doubt, the country’s most prestigious international multimedia design conference. Tickets sell out quickly every year. The line-up of speakers is relevant and curated to the highest local and international standards. Their roster for 2010—Tara McPherson, Danny Yount, Phunk Studio—does not disappoint.
Power Mac Center presents WALL LORDS (1p.m.-8p.m., The Collective, 7274 Malugay St. Makati)
Eight of the top Philippine graffiti crews compete for the chance to represent the Philippines in the international Wall Lords final held this year in Shanghai. From 1p.m. onwards, the contenders will be painting murals live, at The Collective on 7274 Malugay Street, Barrio San Antonio, Makati City.

MDW LAUNCH PARTY (9p.m., The Collective, 7274 Malugay St., MAKATI)
MDW is hosting the official launch party at The Collective, and everyone is invited. Music will be provided by the likes of Chillitees, Sandwich, Pedicab, Gaijin, Imago, Us 2- Evil 0, Duster, DJ Euric, DJ Rye and The Diegos. The musicians are giving out a little bit of extra loving to festival-goers and special guest, Tara McPherson. They will perform songs from albums that sport her artwork, a selection of which will be on exhibit at Vinyl on Vinyl Gallery and open for one night only. A sneaker art show will also be up at the Manila Remix Store, with Bronx shoes designed by Team Manila, 123Klan and Jeremyville. Manila Beer will be giving out beer, and friends from Power Mac Center and Bratpack will be around, giving out free things, which are the best kind of things.
DAY 2: TUESDAY, AUGUST 10
Manila Beer presents CUT & PASTE (8p.m.-2a.m., The Collective, 7274 Malugay St., Makati)
Be the first-ever witness of Cut & Paste live in Manila! Watch top Filipino graphic designers beat out one another under time pressure in print design and motion graphics live and on-the-spot. Experience the magnitude of their talent in a party atmosphere with DJs hitting the turntable and MCs hyping up the design arena. Intensify their energy and push them to their limits as we enjoy the digital design tilt with overflowing booze by Manila Beer. The designers battling it out in 2d and 3d design categories are Christian San Jose, Dan Matutina, Randell Centeno, Drew Europeo, Ritzh Sales, Ramon Vizmonte, Erickson Enriquez, Mark McLenard Medina, Edsel Abesamis, Carl Chua, and Nel Paredes.
Music will be provided by Paste Groove, Arbiewon, Skin Kadafi, Jeric and Macnificent.
DAY 3: WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 11
Bratpack presents WHAT’S IN YOUR BAG?
A fashion and design photo exhibit.
EXHIBIT OPENING (7p.m.-10p.m., Greenbelt 5, Fashion Walk)
What’s in your bag represents who you are. Get to know 25 style icons of different backgrounds from Tim Yap and Brent Javier to Vicky Herrera and Amina Aranaz-Alunan, through the daily essentials inside their bags as interpreted by known lensmen – Xander Angeles, Steve Tirona, Daniel Tan, JA Tadena, and Revo Naval in collaboration with graphic designers Randell Centeno, Nico Puertollano, AJ Dimarucot, Ramon Vizmonte, Dan Matutina. Styling by SoFA (School of Fashion and the Arts) and make-up by Make Up Forever.

DAY 4: THURSDAY, AUGUST 12
Power Mac Center presents DIGITAL VOICE: GRAPHIC DESIGN FREEDOM WALL
POSTER DESIGN CONTEST FOR STUDENTS (4p.m.-9p.m., Glorietta 5, Activity Center)
Emerging student artists and designers from Fine Arts to Multimedia Arts are asked to take a stand and express their opinions through graphic designed artworks to form an 6 x 32 ft. freedom wall in Glorietta 5. The pre-designed graphic artworks can be edited in the Mac Stations powered by Power Mac Center, printed on the spot by HP printers and posted personally by the student artist in the freedom wall to demonstrate unity and positivity through graphic design. After the preparation of the freedom wall, Power Mac Center and SHIFT (School of Intermedia, Film and Technology) are hosting a series of seminars on poster design. Music will be provided by Turbo Goth, Techy Romantics and Team Manila.
Finally, the launch of Big SHIFT - a project that aims to reshape and rebrand the image of our country.
DAY 5: FRIDAY, AUGUST 13
Manila Beer presents MANILA SOUND VISION
A MUSIC AND DESIGN TRIBUTE TO ’70s MANILA ROCK (8p.m.-2a.m., Cubao Expo)
Manila Sound icons in the 70’s — Juan De La Cruz to Sampaguita collaborate with contemporary graphic designers to bring back the glory of vinyl through art in an exhibit at Cubao Expo. Simultaneously, there will be a launch of new music videos directed by by Big Top Media and First Academy of the Arts for some of the headliner bands: Urbandub, Up Dharma Down, Greyhoundz, SinoSikat? and Razorback. Also performing are Imago, Sideshow, Techy Romantics, Gaijin, DJ Arbiewon, DJ Switch Trick, DJ Stolen Kisses, and DJ Guadakomeda.
