MANILA, Philippines - I am inspired by pain. I believe we all go through pain, whether physically, emotionally or spiritually. The image of the ‘Pieta’ is one of my favorite pieces because I believe nothing is more painful than seeing the suffering and death of a loved one. The number seven engraved on the woman’s arms is a biblical symbolism, representing the beginning and the end, sin and pain,” shares man-of-the-moment, photographer and birthday boy Niccolo Cosme.
Away from the commercial and advocacy work that this prolific artist is known for, Niccolo is one person that doesn’t get satisfied by just wallowing on the surface. His portfolio of work may be glossy and more often, happy, but there is another side of him that is raring to be expressed.
Just turned 30 last month, he decided to channel his energies into looking unto that side of himself. And the best way? To take photographs of those images in his mind. A fitting tribute to celebrate nine turbulent, happy years of his work life.
On this Supreme page, an exclusive peek at how Niccolo Cosme’s COSMEXXX — a key hole on how he sees pain, love, forgiveness and innocence. With graphic artist Andrei Venal as collaborator, let us celebrate Niccolo’s ninth — and look forward to the next.
