MANILA, Philippines - In Episode 5 of Gossip Girl, she said there are songs that make us want to dance and songs that make us want to sing along. But the best songs are the ones that bring us back to the moment we first heard them. This week, Supreme asks Kate Torralba what tunes she’s listening and singing to now:
What kind of music do you listen to … I listen to almost everything! I’m really more of a rock/alternative chick though. But I’m a classically trained pianist so I listen to the old masters, too. And I grew up with my grandparents and aunts and uncles so I’m also a fan of standards and folk. Then there are jazz and electronic music, too.
What was your first favorite song? Where is Love?, Mark Lester’s interpretation from the movie version of Oliver. I was four years old and I knew it by heart.
What song makes you cringe when you hear it? That song that goes “Nobody, nobody but you” by those Korean chicks. It makes you cringe, but it has a very high LSS (last song syndrome) factor.
What genre would you rather not listen to? Why? The kind of rap that involves derogatory lyrics about women. For obvious reasons.
If your life were a song, which one would it be? Both Sides Now by Joni Mitchell. I know, it’s sappy.
What’s on your music playlist now? All new stuff. Imogen Heap’s “Ellipse” album. Saint Vincent’s “Actor” album. The latest Kings of Convenience. Camera Obscura. Taken by Trees. And some old ones, since I have that side of me: Barbra Streisand’s best, and Basia’s From Now On, just because I’m still in post-concert mode. I got a hug from Basia herself, thanks to the people at Crossover 105.1!
How often do you change it? Every few days! I’m fickle.

Select Menu > Music > Music library. Select Playlists > Options > New playlist. Enter a name for the playlist and select OK.
The device asks if you want to add songs right away. Select Yes.
Choose the song you want to add, and select Add. You can add as many songs you want. To show the song list under an artist’s name, double tap the artist’s name. When you are finished with adding songs, select Done.
