MANILA, Philippine - When one decides to jet to Boracay, there is an unspoken clause agreed upon stating the absolute laying away of cares. You are stepping down on an island of booze (oh come on, let’s not kid ourselves), after all. So it was only natural that Bacardi signed up as major sponsor to this year’s—and the 8th ever—Boracay Bound, where Manila’s hot-and-high society nixes its shirts and kicks its shoes off at its party annex island.
When you’ve been to one Boracay event, you’ve been to ‘em all, but Eventscape’s main night-scaper Stephen Ku put a little value-added fun to this sandy shindig by focusing on “issues like well-being and environment.” Well-being, then, had to emerge from the Wibit inflatables and homegrown games like tumbang preso and sack races—a lot of hot ‘n’ healthy competition culminating at the Bamboo Lounge beachfront. And while Sunset Sessions followed at the Tides’ Roof Deck (the lux party domain everyone shacked up at), a nocturnal slice of home wasn’t too far away as Embassy and The Manor pressed play on “party” at Club Paraw and Guilly’s. Rum Cokes a-flowing, a lot of public displays of intoxication, and the guarantee that that unspoken clause was damn well fulfilled. Hell, we’re already bound for next year’s Boracay Bound.
