MANILA, Philippines - Ordering a café latte, you suddenly realize you left your wallet at home. Cashless, you are forced to cancel your order, and worse, get awful stares from those standing behind you. You step aside and bring out your mobile phone to call for help. Suddenly, you get a text message from Globe Rewards: 144 points. Feeling lucky, you go back in line, ready to nurture your soul with that much-needed caffeine fix for the day.
With the latest from Globe Rewards, your mobile phone easily becomes your wallet, where Globe rewards points are now recognized as a form of payment similar to cash in partner-merchants nationwide, giving subscribers more ways to use their rewards points aside from redeeming telco services, gadgets, and gift certificates.
Implementing a straightforward points-to-peso conversion of one point = one peso, the much-improved rewards program is making it easier and more convenient for subscribers to redeem rewards, where points can be used to purchase items from partner-merchants such as Ayala Malls Cinemas for movie tickets, Figaro Coffee and Wendy’s Hamburgers for food and beverage purchases, and Enchanted Kingdom for park passes. Subscribers just need to bring their rewards points to partner-merchants and transact with the cashier via text.
For as low as 50 points, subscribers can already redeem their choice of food or beverage in Figaro and Wendy’s, while a minimum of 100 points are required to redeem a movie ticket from Ayala Malls Cinemas or a pass from Enchanted Kingdom.
Soon, subscribers can convert their points to gas up in Petron Gas Station, purchase medicines from Rose Pharmacy, and avail of the latest eyewear from Sunglass Hut.
Globe rewards points are earned every time a prepaid subscriber tops up, or a postpaid subscriber uses his/her Globe postpaid plan. Subscribers can also receive points shared by fellow Globe subscribers for bigger rewards. Aside from new partner-merchants, the Globe Rewards catalog includes Globe call and text services, shopping, dining and leisure items, and gadgets.
“With a more customer-centric My Rewards My Globe, subscribers can now customize not just their prepaid promos or postpaid plans, but also their choice of rewards using their Globe points,†said Jay Beltran, head of customer lifecycle management at Globe. “Subscribers can now bring their Globe rewards points to our partner-merchants and pay for their purchases, without shelling out cash, queuing up, or waiting for delivery of their rewards. Now, rewards points are good as cash so subscribers have more ways to enjoy their rewards based on their lifestyle.â€
Beltran added, “The positive impact our rewards program has impressed on subscribers is translated to our brands’ churn rates sustained at low levels. Subscribers’ continued use of Globe services is on a steady growth as a result of providing subscribers the type of telco rewards no other network can offer.â€
