KangaRoos hop into the Philippines

MANILA, Philippines - At a recent event in Glorietta Activity Center, KangaRoos in cooperation with Urban Athletics, threw a dance and fitness party that took Makati by storm.

The event kicked off with an alliance with Team Elite productions of the “Feel Like Money Asian Tour” as it brought popular TV show America’s Best Dance Crew Season 6 champ i.aM.me crew head choreographer Di “Moon” Zhang. Filipino groovers and shakers rocked the activity center with a workshop with the Moon, who was pretty much swept off his feet by young Pinoy talents. He even picked three guys and girls to dance their newly taught routine with him and held a little showdown competition that had the cream of the crop bringing home brand new pairs of KangaRoos.

Zumba Dance Fitness brought “Zumba goes Hollyween,” a costume dance party featuring all Zumba aficionados and famous instructors like Pepper Lozada. Dancers from Davao, Laguna, and even overseas joined the festivity with a two-hour body workout of hard-pumping dance moves to Latin and international grooves. Showbiz personality John Lapuz also graced the event as the judge for special awards like the Zumba King and Queen and the “Zin” awards (for the best Zumba Instructor), in which other pairs of KangaRoos were given away together with other gifts from Toby’s Sports, CWX, Unilab, and Urban Athletics.

From humble beginnings that started when American running buff Bob Gamm designed footwear with pockets—out of his frustration to figure out where to keep his keys and coins while running—the brand has since come a long way. The shoes have become a global fashion phenomenon with their sporty cut, fresh colors, and spunky details.

More than 30 years in the business have yielded four iconic products namely the Combat, Tai Chi, Skywalker, and the Omnicoil. The brand also expanded its offerings by creating a whole range of apparel and accessories. Despite constant innovation, the brand still remains true to Gamm’s classic designs. It is one of the main reasons why Roos continues to be an international success. “We believe KangaRoos will appeal to various ages because of  the unique combination of  its sports heritage, fresh colors and innovation, and of course, being the original shoes with pockets,” said Marc Vinas, Roos brand manager.
