MANILA, Philippines - A month ago, PLDT myDSL kicked off The Awesome Hunt, a reality and online travelogue game where eight celebrity-blogger teams took on the challenge to traverse various areas of the Philippines in an exciting search for some of the country’s cultural gems and post their travel stories. The teams’ blogs were then opened for public voting as well as for judging by a panel of influential men and women from the social scene.
Team Rizal’s Magic 89.9’s Good Times’ DJ Mojo Jojo and Between Bites blogger Jane Chua emerged as winners. They were during the Awesome Hunt Winners Party held last May 14 at Republiq Resorts World in Pasay City. Joining them were fellow contestants and guests including Amazing Race Asia champ Rich Herrera, Anton del Rosario of the Azkals, makeup ingénue Xeng Zulueta, and fashion designer Charina Sarte.
PLDT myDSL officials handed out the amazing prizes to the winners who each received P50,000 cash, a free one-year PLDT myDSL subscription, a Sony Vaio laptop, a Sony Cyber-shot camera, a trip for two to Dakak from Cebu Pacific, and a pizza party courtesy of Yellow Cab Pizza Co. The same prizes were also awarded to one lucky online voter.
Launched in partnership with the Department of Tourism, The Awesome Hunt was created to announce the locations where PLDT myDSL recently installed more than 200,000 additional lines to promote faster, more stable broadband connections. Each location was represented by one team, which had to face tasks and blog about their experiences afterwards.
The stories, uploaded on pldtwatchpad.com/awesomehunt, were done by actor Mark Herras and champion drifter Alex Perez (Team Cavite); mom and son pair Dolly Anne Carvajal and IC Mendoza (Team Laguna); Mojo Jojo and Jane Chua (Team Rizal); Starstruck’s Steven Silva and Eat Bulaga! host Daiana Menezes (Team Marikina); famed Manila tour guide and blogger Carlos Celdran with columnist/chef China Cojuangco (Team Quezon City); A Bugged Life’s Jayvee Fernandez and Temptation of Wife’s Luis Alandy (Team Las Piñas); fellow actors Marco Alcaraz of My Lover, My Wife, and Machete star Bela Padilla (Team Butuan); and Myx VJ Ton Vergel de Dios, and I Heart You, Pare! actress Ryza Cenon (Team Dumaguete).
Online votes comprised 50 percent of the total score while the other half were made up of the points given by the judges: Mega Publishing president and CEO, and Mega magazine editor in chief Sari Yap; CEO and chef of Modern Epicurean Kitchen, Olive magazine editor in chief, and Philippine STAR columnist Stephanie Zubiri; Our Awesome Planet’s Anton Diaz; and Circuit magazine editor in chief JR Isaac.
As part of celebrating the new, additional 200,000 DSL lines all over the Philippines, PLDT myDSL rocked Dumaguete’s Kabulacan festival last May 7 and Butuan’s Balangay Festival last May 20 with an awesome concert from Gloc 9 and Callalily, respectively. On June 11, PLDT myDSL will invade Legazpi City with a car-drifting exhibition “Speed Circuit,” a totally different experience only from PLDT myDSL.
