MANILA, Philippines - The Wedding Library marks its eighth anniversary with “Major! Major! Weddings & Debuts 2011” bridal fair, which will be held from Feb. 18 to 20 at the Megatrade Halls 1 and 2, SM Megamall, Mandaluyong City.
The Wedding Library opened its first outlet in 1998 at SM Megamall offering a wide variety of wedding accessories, bridal shower items, invitations, souvenirs, stag party and honeymoon items, as well as reputable wedding suppliers. It became such a big hit that the owners decided to put up another branch at SM North EDSA. Franchise branches soon opened at SM Mall of Asia and SM City Iloilo. The Wedding Library’s success inspired the owners to organize bridal fairs.
In April 2004, The Wedding Library held its first bridal fair at the Big Tent in QC, and after that, every February at the SM Megamall.
February is the best time to start preparing for the wedding month — December — here in the Philippines. June weddings are mostly observed in North America.
The Wedding Library’s first bridal fair attracted only 50 wedding suppliers. The numbers increased when it moved to SM Megatrade Hall in February the following year. To date, it has attracted 300 exhibitors for three days in three halls, a record that hasn’t been broken by other bridal fairs. The number increased even more when they got TV host/actress Valerie Concepcion as The Wedding Library Bridal Fair endorser. In 2010, more than 13,000 people attended the event.
The Wedding Library’s “Major! Major! Weddings & Debuts 2011” offers cash prizes for on-the-spot bookings: P25,000 as major prize, and three P10,000 cash for bookings on the fair’s first day. Freebies will be given to would-be brides and debutantes. Just bring proof of upcoming wedding or debut such as a church/reception wedding/debut supplier booking.
This year, The Wedding Library pays tribute to four successful entrepreneurs in the wedding scene. They are designer Edd Sy, Juan Carlo, caterer of the Ogie Alcasid-Regine Velasquez wedding, and Batangas’ best-loved chef; the Smartshot Studio’s Lito Genilo, and AMI Jewels.
