MANILA, Philippines - Greenwich, in partnership with Star World, recently held the Extreme Idol Challenge culminating event which paved the way for one lucky Greenwich customer to get a free trip to Hollywood for two to watch the popular reality talent show American Idol’s finale live at the Kodak Theatre in Los Angeles, California. The Philippines’ favorite pizza chain offers not just pizza and pasta pleasure, but also a much-coveted taste of the AI experience.
The event was well-attended by an excited crowd, mainly bunches of barkadas, thrilled to witness the outcome of one of the biggest contests of the year.
Thirteen finalists, 12 store winners and one wild card winner braved the “Extreme Idol” challenges answering AI trivia questions and guessing lyrics during the singing showdown. One store winner and wild card holder Emmanuel Lopez had a close one-on-one competition in the final round, and in the end, 28-year-old Jeschelle Marcelo of San Pablo, Laguna bagged the grand prize.
The avid fan has never missed an American Idol episode, and her favorites for this season are Lee Dewyze and Tim Urban.
“The American Idol mania is similar to how much we Pinoys love our Greenwich pizza,” she adds. “You can compare your first bite of a Greenwich pizza to watching Idol. Sa unang kagat, you get excited. Then lalo kang matatakam and then you want more, just like Idol.”
The Extreme Idol Challenge is just one of many ways the pizza chain continues to add to the Greenwich experience. “We will continue to be better and offer more innovative pizza and pasta dishes, and we assure everyone that there will be more exciting things in store for them,” says Greenwich senior marketing manager Luis Velasco.
