Cabalen caters to less-fortunate kids' daycare needs

MANILA, Philippines - “Cabalen Para sa Kabataan” is Cabalen’s yearly outreach program that started in 1996 as a means of thanksgiving and a way of sharing and giving back to the community a portion of its income for less-fortunate children. Every Christmas, Cabalen sets aside a percentage of every centavo generated from its December income and has a gift giving in February.

For this year, Cabalen continued its commitment to the Arinai Day Care Center by spearheading its renovation. Cabalen was able to rebuild the school by concreting the flooring, placing double walls, and building school fixtures like bookshelves and cabinets. They also donated desk chairs, curtains, electric fans and learning materials like flashcards, posters and workbooks that the children could use in their learning. The whole Cabalen family had a storytelling activity to encourage students to read. Children benefited from schoolbags that were given with school supplies and assorted toiletries to enhance health and hygiene. Packed meals were distributed that day for the children to partake of with their parents.

Through the years, Cabalen has been known for serving delectable Filipino food, with over 50 dishes in its buffet, including all-time favorites such as bulalo, kare-kare, kalderetang baka, relyenong bangus, bopis, ginataang kuhol, sizzling sisig, bistig tiyan ng bangus and many more. After a good, filling meal, guests can enjoy the dessert buffet, which includes the minatamis na saguing, biko, sampelot and tibok-tibok as well as the Cabalen halo-halo bar with homemade ingredients. As an added bonus this summer, all guests partaking of the buffet will receive free Nestlé sorbetes sticks.
