MANILA, Philippines - Philippine Airlines (PAL) hosted a gala dinner last March 15 at the ballroom of Century Park Hotel for its friends in government, travel industry and Mabuhay Miles Million Milers and Program Partners to celebrate the flag carrier’s founding anniversary. The event was actually a countdown to PAL’s 70th birthday next year.
PAL chairman Dr. Lucio C. Tan — with the help of PAL president Jaime J. Bautista — was a gracious host to government officials and members of the diplomatic corps.
Present were Transportation and Communication Secretary Anneli Lontoc, Foreign Affairs Undersecretary Franklin Ebdalin, Tourism Undersecretary Oscar Palabyab, CAB executive director Carmelo Arcilla, Federation of Filipino-Chinese Chambers of Commerce & Industry president Alfonso Uy, and PAL board members Washington SyCip, Joseph Chua, Vietnamese Ambassador Nguyen Vu Tu and Saudi Ambassador Abdullah al Hassan.
Before a lauriat dinner was served, PAL chief commercial group adviser Richard Miller unveiled a package of special promos and activities including the raffle of 70,000 seats for the next 12 months, low fares for both domestic and international flights, as well as outbound and inbound Manila, and the launch of the “Y Flyer” that extends 10-percent discount to the youth — 21 years and below.
Miller also revealed that senior citizens who celebrate their 70th birthday between March 15 to April 15, 2010 get a free ticket. To know more about these exciting promos, visit www.philippineairlines.com.
PAL’s partners among travel agents and cargo forwarders also came in droves to witness the kickoff to a yearlong celebration, dubbed “Soaring to 70.”
