LAUGH, PRAY, LOVE

Yes, there is time for laughter even during a religious pilgrimage. On our bus from one holy site to the next, Archbishop Soc would give us inspirational talks and backgrounders regarding the place we were visiting. We recited prayers, enjoyed karaoke singing, did breathing exercises with a yoga teacher among us, and yes, we also cracked jokes. Chat Mina of Adam’s Travel was an excellent tour leader, so there was never an idle moment during the pilgrimage. Here are two of the many jokes we heard on the bus.

FROM A PILGRIM:

“My one secret wish is to undress Archbishop Soc Villegas... I just want to see how angels hide their wings. ”

FROM ARCHBISHOP SOC VILLEGAS:

“Was the Blessed Virgin Mary present at the Last Supper?” I asked this before grade school students of Poveda Learning Centre many years ago.

Then a student raised her hand and said: “Yes, Father, the Blessed Virgin Mary was there. ”

“But how come she is not in the Last Supper pictures?” I asked.

“Oh, Father, the Virgin Mary was the one who took the pictures.”
